Datamatrix (ECC200) Bar Code Symbology

Datamatrix (ECC200) is a 2D type bar code that is used for encoding large amount of data characters; ideal for marking on very small labels or packaging. It is identical to the standard Datamatrix symbology, the difference is the ECC200 error correction formatting, which allows for decoding of partially damaged symbols. Nearly ALL Datamatrix bar codes uses the ECC200 format. Datamatrix bar codes can encode all GS1 Application Identifier Element Strings. In addition to the GS1 retail supply chain application this symbology is also often used for parts marking and in industrial/manufacturing applications.
