UPC-E Bar Code Symbology
UPC-E is a linear (1D) type bar code that is used for product marking intended for the retail supply chain world-wide for applications where a country code is NOT required and with zero suppression of the encoded data. Zero suppression allow for smaller bar codes on packaging that is too small to support a full sized UPC-E. The UPC-E symbology is actually a subset of the EAN-8/JAN-8 symbology. This bar code is composed of seven (7) digits and a checksum character.
